Ed Sheeran Defended by Former Opening Act Aaron Rowe, Irish Singer Reveals Real Person to Blame | Just Jared

Aaron Rowe is coming to Ed Sheeran‘s defense after exiting the Loop Tour.

Earlier this week, the Irish singer-songwriter announced that he was dropping out as one of the opening acts of the 35-year-old “Shape of You” singer’s tour in solidarity with Macklemore and Palestine. Every other opening act, along with Ed‘s band, then followed suit and also dropped out.

In a new video posted to Instagram on Friday (September 18), Aaron spoke out in support of Ed and said that people are focusing on the wrong person and issue. Instead, Aaron said that billionaire New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is the real person to blame in this situation.

“I’m gonna be honest. I think you are all focusing on the wrong person here,” Aaron said. “All I keep hearing is Ed Sheeran this, Ed Sheeran that — when you really should be focusing on the likes of Robert Kraft. You really should be focusing on the Zionist lobbies that are trying to silence the voices of people who are shouting about genocide, the genocide that is happening in Palestine right now by Israel.”

Aaron then acknowledged that Ed‘s statement in the wake of the fallout “could have been a lot better.” After Macklemore revealed that he was removed from the tour, Ed said that it was not his decision, but that of tour promoter Messina Touring Group along with pressure from Kraft, 85, who banned the rapper from performing at his Gillette Stadium.

Aaron then reaffirmed that he does not think Macklemore should have been removed from the tour and thought the panic led to someone rushing a decision.

“I haven’t had a chance to f***ing talk to Ed too much, but I fully believe he knows that was a mistake,” he said, noting everyone on the lineup supported Palestinians living in Gaza.

“Like, if Ed Sheeran was a f***ing Zionist, why would he have all these f***ing people on the f***ing tour?” Aaron added.

He then said he believed that Ed knows he made a mistake and took his home country of Ireland, other governments, the media, and the music industry to task who he said have “done f*** all” about the situation, despite having “so much money and so much power that they’re able to basically shut down any opinion that they don’t agree with.”

“You should be using this opportunity to plaster Robert Kraft’s face everywhere, someone who tried to shut down free speech, someone who tried to silence the voices of people who are shouting out genocide,” Aaron asserted. “That’s what you should be using your energy on, not f***ing Ed Sheeran, for f***’s sake.”

Ed is scheduled to resume his Loop Tour on Saturday night, September 19 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. He’s made a major change to the show after losing his opening acts.
