Zach Cregger has the support of his wife Sara Paxton at the premiere of his new movie!

The acclaimed horror director, best known for Weapons and Barbarian, is directing the video game-to-film adaptation of Resident Evil, which had its world premiere on Tuesday (September 15) at The United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles.

Zach was joined at the event by cast members Austin Abrams, Kali Reis, Zach Cherry, and Paul Walter Hauser.

Zach Cregger wants to work with wife Sara Paxton!

The couple met on the set of the 2013 movie Love & Air Sex, in which they played a couple. They got married in 2019.

Sara is best known for her work in movies like Aquamarine, Sydney White, Return to Halloweentown, and The Last House on the Left. She actually has a “sneaky cameo” in Weapons, but Zach hopes to direct her in a lead role one day.

Zach told THR at the premiere, “Oh yeah, of course! I would love that. It’s gotta be the right role, but I mean, I would be honored.”

What is the Resident Evil movie about?

While the first six films in the Resident Evil franchise followed Milla Jovovich‘s Alice, the 2021 reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City had a new storyline.

The 2026 reboot also is following a new story.

In this film, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.
