A previously announced Yellowstone spinoff has been revealed to no longer be happening.

Franchise creator Taylor Sheridan confirms 6666 will not be moving forward, over five years after it was first announced.

“There’s never going to be one; I would never fictionalize that ranch,” he said on the Rodeo Time podcast. “People thought that that was going to be a thing, but I would never do that.”

If you didn’t know, Taylor is a part owner of the 6666 Ranch, a real property in Texas that was featured in Yellowstone‘s fourth and fifth seasons.

Why is the show no longer moving forward?

Taylor says he doesn’t want to be “making up lives” and “inventing a drama” at an active ranch.

“So now I’m trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work, and they raise their families there, and I could never do that to them,” the writer said. “I could never do that to the cowboys that dedicated themselves, and everybody that works on that ranch. I’m very protective of the Sixes, and it’s a big responsibility to be the person who has to protect that ranch, so I have to be very, very careful with it.”

6666 was first being set up at Paramount+ before moving to Paramount Network in 2022.

What was 6666 going to be about?

Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 has inspired a new scripted series where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing. The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.

While 6666 is no longer happening, there are still other active Yellowstone spinoffs.

Marshals is returning for a second season on CBS, and Dutton Ranch also has a second season in the works.

Taylor Sheridan also has several other shows that are still going, including Lioness, which just premiered a new season, Tulsa King, The Madison, Landman, and the upcoming Tulsa King spinoff Frisco King.
