RFK Jr’s Son Conor Kennedy Placed on Russia’s Most Wanted List, Charged with Acting as ‘Mercenary’ for Ukraine

Conor Kennedy has found himself in some major legal trouble with Russia.

The 32-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been placed on Russia’s International Most Wanted List after quietly traveling to Ukraine in 2022 to assist in their defense against Vladimir Putin‘s invasion.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow authorized Conor’s “arrest in absentia” on August 12 on the charge that he participated in Ukraine’s military action against Russia as a mercenary, according to Russian state media outlet TASS.

The charge carries a seven- to 10-year prison sentence if he is successfully detained.

Back in 2022, Conor opened up about his decision to secretly fight in the war against Russia.

“My time in Ukraine wasn’t long but I saw a lot and I felt a lot. I liked being a soldier, more than I had expected. It is scary,” he shared at the time. “But life is simple, and the rewards for finding courage and doing good are substantial. My friends there know why I had to come home. I’ll always owe them for their example. I know I’m lucky I made it back, but I would also take all the risks we took over again.”

“This war, like all others, is horrific. The people I met were the bravest I have ever known. My fellow legionnaires — who came from different countries, backgrounds, ideologies — are true freedom fighters,” Conor added. “As are the citizens I knew, many of whom have lost everything in their long struggle against oligarchy, and toward a democratic system. They know this isn’t a war between equals, it’s a revolution.”

Conor is one of RFK Jr. and late wife Mary Richardson‘s six children. They are also parents to sons Bobby, 41, Finn, 26, and Aidan, 23, along with daughters Kick, 38, and Kyra, 29
