Netflix Orders 'Sid & Zoey' Series from Creator Jon Kasdan & Producers JJ Abrams, James Wan & Jason Blum | Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Netflix has ordered the YA gothic romance series Sid & Zoey straight-to-series!

The upcoming new series was picked up by the streamer in a highly competitive development deal, and it’s billed as a “genre-bending” series that is “equal parts supernatural mystery and romance.”

Sid & Zoey was created by Jon Kasdan (Willow), who will serve as showrunner and executive producer, alongside writer John Shiban (Ozark).

The series is executive produced by the likes of JJ Abrams and Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Jason Blum.

What is Sid & Zoey about?

Sid, a seductive, sophisticated, and amoral teenager from New York, is sent to live with a police chief and his family in the idyllic Mississippi town where his mother grew up. The family includes the chief’s sharp-witted, punk-rock daughter, Zoey. Resisting their mutual attraction, Sid and Zoey find themselves drawn into a dark, hidden world beneath the town’s picture-postcard facade — and a supernatural mystery that may well get them killed if they don’t kill each other first.

Acclaimed filmmaker JJ Abrams has previously worked with Netflix on the series, Challenger: The Final Flight.

Jason Blum has also previously worked with Netflix on the series Worst Roommate Ever and the spinoff Worst Ex Ever.
