David DeLuise Seemingly Throws Shade at ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Ending

David DeLuise seems to have thrown shade at the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series.

The 54-year-old actor played Jerry Russo in the original series, and reprised his role for two episodes in the first season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

However, he has not returned to the show since, and the sequel series comes to an end this week, with a four-part third season. His on-screen wife, Maria Canals-Barrera, does return in the finale event.

On Tuesday (August 4), David seemed to throw some shade at the show coming to an end in the comments section of an Instagram video.

Entertainment Tonight shared a video on Instagram of the final days of filming, and David wrote, “It would not be over if the OG wizards were really there. Missed opportunity.”

Many fans have called his comment petty, while others agreed with him. It’s unclear whether he was commenting on his own absence, but some have also said he could have been referring to Jake T Austin not returning as Max Russo.

Last October, David Henrie, who returned as Justin Russo and served as an executive producer, revealed if Jake would ever appear on the sequel series.
