Armie Hammer Stars in Controversial New Thriller 'Citizen Vigilante' - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Armie Hammer is back in a leading role with the release of Citizen Vigilante.

The new action-thriller from filmmaker Uwe Boll is now available on all major TVOD platforms like Apple TV, YouTube, and Prime Video in the United States as of Friday (June 19), giving viewers a chance to see the film from home.

The movie, which also stars Costas Mandylor of the Saw franchise, follows a wealthy American businessman living abroad whose violent vigilante campaign turns him into both a fugitive and an online sensation.

What is Citizen Vigilante about?

In the film, Armie plays Sanders, a wealthy American businessman living in Zagreb who inherited a massive real estate empire from his late father. Sanders begins targeting violent criminals who he believes escaped meaningful punishment through the legal system.

Citizen Vigilante story is Sanders (Hammer), a wealthy American businessman living in Zagreb who inherited a massive real estate empire from his late father. Intelligent, isolated and emotionally scarred, Sanders transforms himself into a feared underground vigilante targeting violent criminals, rapists and corrupt judges who escaped meaningful punishment through the legal system.

As his brutal campaign gains traction online and across the media, Sanders becomes both a wanted criminal and an unlikely public hero. But not everyone sees him as a savior. Interpol Chief Henry, played by Mandylor, believes Sanders represents a dangerous threat to society and launches an aggressive international pursuit to stop him before his influence spirals out of control.

Citizen Vigilante arrives with controversy already surrounding it. Director Uwe Boll has publicly claimed the film was effectively blocked from release in Germany following disputes over its classification with the country’s FSK ratings board.

The filmmaker has described the project as “an action film inspired by real events, based on real cases and a commentary about injustice.”

Armie recently broke his silence after his scandals claiming he “didn’t do” what people said he did.
