Ashley Padilla is taking on a big new role.

The 33-year-old Saturday Night Live star is joining Chris Pine and Emma Stone in the upcoming Universal rom-com The Catch.

Dave McCary, Emma‘s husband, is directing the movie, which will start production next month in New York, according to THR.

Hacks co-creator Jen Statsky and Adam Ruins Everything writer Travis Helwig wrote the most recent script, which was originally penned by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin.

According to the outlet, the rom-com is “described as Bull Durham meets Notting Hill with Stone playing the most hated woman in baseball.”

Ashley will be playing the role of Emma‘s character’s sister. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 21, 2027.

Earlier in the month, Emma and Dave stepped out for the 2026 Producers Guild Awards held at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. They’ve been together for six years.

Dave was previously a writer and segment director on Saturday Night Live. He made his directorial debut in 2017 with the movie Brigsby Bear.

Chris was attached to the project back in February and he’s no stranger to romantic comedies after having his breakout movie role as the romantic lead in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. We recently learned that he’s set to appear in the upcoming third movie of that franchise!
