A second season of Shogun is currently in production!

The Emmy-winning FX drama first premiered in February 2024, and a few months later it was announced that two more seasons were in the works. Season two was confirmed in Spring 2025.

Season two kicked off filming in Vancouver earlier this year, and it will be “a wholly original new chapter to the first season,” per Deadline.

Here’s the synopsis: Shogun season 2 will take place 10 years after the events in the first season, in which Lord Toranaga fought for his survival as his enemies in the Council of Regents united against him. When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its pilot John Blackthorne shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war.

As we await more details on Shogun season two, we do know which stars are confirmed to NOT return, who will be back and several more new additions to the cast.
