Xolo Maridueña Will Return as Blue Beetle in Superman Sequel 'Man of Tomorrow' - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Blue Beetle is back.

Xolo Maridueña will return to the role of Jaime Reyes, otherwise known as Blue Beetle, in James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman sequel movie Man of Tomorrow, according to a new report on Tuesday (July 14).

Blue Beetle’s appearance will be his “reintroduction” into the DC Universe, TheWrap reports.

“I mean the first DCU character, for sure, is Blue Beetle, and the first full DCU movie is Superman,” the director previously confirmed in a podcast appearance while discussing taking over DC.

The 25-year-old actor played Blue Beetle in the 2023 movie of the same name, directed by Angel Manuel Soto. The film commands a 78% rating among critics, with a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The upcoming movie is now in production, and lead David Corenswet was recently spotted filming for the Superman sequel in the iconic Superman suit in Atlanta, Georgia.

In Man of Tomorrow, Superman and Lex Luthor are set to team up as they against a new villain – Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. The film will hit theaters in July 2027.

Thre was a new addition to the cast in May, and you can see which actors from the first film are confirmed to return for the second film.

James Gunn is returning to write and direct the new film.
