Olivia Rodrigo is one artist that is going to speak out about causes and issues she believes in, and in a new magazine interview, she explained why this is important to her.

The 23-year-old superstar artist has previously spoken out about Black Lives Matter, Gaza, reproductive rights, and has called out the Trump administration for using one of her songs in a pro-ICE video.

Olivia Rodrigo was asked if it is important to her to speak out for what she believes in

She confirmed to Dazed Digital, “I think part of being an artist is sharing how you feel with other people. I don’t have a political science degree, I’m not the most educated person on planet Earth, but I like to try and stay up to date on things and share how I feel.”

Olivia Rodrigo also commented on her song, “all-american bitch,” being used in an ICE video

“I was just scrolling on my phone. It was so deeply disturbing to see that propaganda, and the fact it was my song in there made me feel even more enraged. What they’re doing is so awful and barbaric and cruel. I am really sad to be in a country that thinks that’s OK,” she responded.

If you don’t recall, in November, Olivia responded to the Department of Homeland Security on social media, saying, “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.”
