Snoop Dogg to Host MTV VMAs 2026!

The host of the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards has been revealed!

On Thursday (September 10), CBS and MTV announced that Snoop Dogg has been selected to host the upcoming VMas, set to take place later this month.

“MTV and the VMAs have been part of my story since the beginning,” Snoop, 54, shared in a statement, per THR. “Some of the biggest moments of my career happened on that stage and on MTV — they gave hip hop a place to be loud, fearless and seen by the whole world. So to come back now and host the VMAs, all these years later, that’s a full-circle moment for me.”

He added that he also was looking forward to reunited with VMAs producer and former MTV chief Van Toffler.

“Doing it with my brother Van Toffler makes it even more special,” Snoop said. “Van was there during those early MTV days when we were changing the culture in real time, and we’ve got a whole lot of history together. Now we get to make some new history. The VMAs have always been about those moments you don’t forget – and trust me, we’re gonna give y’all a few more. See you at the VMAs.”

Snoop is no stranger to the VMAs. Throughout his career, he has been nominated for 13 awards, winning 3. He first performed during the 1994 ceremony, closed the 1999 show with Dr. Dre and Eminem and took part in a tribute to the Notorious B.I.G. in 2005. Snoop last performed in 2022.

News of Snoop hosting the 2026 VMAs comes a day after MTV announce and Nirvana will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award this year.

This year, Madonna has the most nominations at the VMAs! She has 11 to her name, including video, artist and song of the year! She’s also up for best collaboration, dance, direction, art direction, cinematography, editing, choreography and visual effects.

The 2026 VMAs, which are taking place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, will air live on Sunday, September 27 beginning at 7:30pm ET. on CBS and MTV and stream on Paramount+ (Premium) in the U.S. The show will be available globally the next day on Paramount+ and MTV.
