Savannah Guthrie Says Family Wants to Give Mom Nancy 'Proper Goodbye' as She Remains Missing | Just Jared

Savannah Guthrie is reacting to Allison Janney‘s touching words about her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.
On Monday night (September 14), the 66-year-old Oscar-winning actress gave the 54-year-old Today anchor a sweet shout-out after her big win at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
As she spoke with reporters backstage after winning the award for Outstanding Supporting actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Diplomat, Allison said that she thinks about Savannah and her family “every day.”
“I think all of America is thinking about her,” she added.

Then during the Tuesday morning (September 15) broadcast of Today, Savannah said that she was “so touched” by Allison‘s comments.
“Her moment, her triumph, and for her to sit and just take a moment and think about our family,” Savannah said. “I never let a moment pass, if I get one, to talk about my mom and how much we miss her and love her.”
Savannah went on to add that her “whole family” is “in such pain” as they continue to search for answers following Nancy‘s disappearance in February.
“We just need help, so thank you, Allison Janney, for remembering us and for giving an opportunity for me to renew that call,” Savannah concluded. “We just want our mom home [to] give her a proper goodbye.”
What is the latest update on the Nancy Guthrie investigation?
Savannah took time off work after her mother’s disappearance before returning in April. She rarely mentions Nancy on-air, but she did recently give a major interview where she revealed new info about the scene of the crime that had not been previously disclosed.
In August, she marked 6 months since her mother was taken with an Instagram post pleading with the public to help her in the search for Nancy.
