Madonna Reveals How Sabrina Carpenter Collaboration Started

Madonna is revealing how her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter came together, and it all started with a little impatience!
During the 2026 MTV VMAs on Sunday night (September 27), the 68-year-old superstar briefly explained the story behind “Bring Your Love,” her collaboration with Sabrina from Confessions II.
The two had just performed the song together during Madonna’s star-studded opening performance before winning Best Collaboration for the track.
“I would like to briefly say how this collaboration came about,” Madonna told the audience as they accepted the award.

“Everybody who knows me knows how impatient I am,” she continued, explaining that five days passed without her getting connected with Sabrina or hearing whether she wanted to do a song together.
“Five days,” Madonna emphasized.
Rather than wait any longer, Madonna decided to contact Sabrina herself.
“I DM’d her,” she revealed, calling the story true.
According to Madonna, Sabrina responded and things moved very quickly from there.
“She answered me back, and I don’t know, within a week we were in the studio together,” she recalled. “It was fabulous.”

The collaboration eventually became “Bring Your Love,” the first official single from Madonna’s Confessions II album.
The song was first teased when Madonna made a surprise appearance during Sabrina’s 2026 Coachella headlining set. They later officially released the track in April, followed by a music video in June.
Madonna previously explained that the song was inspired in part by her frustration with pressure to chase trends, algorithms and streaming numbers while making music.
The pair reunited onstage at the VMAs to perform the collaboration as part of Madonna’s first live performance at the awards show in 23 years. Their VMAs performance came just before the pair took home Best Collaboration for “Bring Your Love.”
