Lionel Richie Hospitalized After Feeling Dizzy During Concert - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Lionel Richie has been hospitalized.

The 77-year-old singer-songwriter was taken to the hospital after getting sick onstage during a performance at Grand Casino Arena on Wednesday (June 24) in St. Paul, Minn.

Lionel said he felt “dizzy” and “strange” and sat on one of the stage platforms while singing “Dancing on the Ceiling.”

“What I have learned about my years of being in the business. When you are feeling dizzy, sit your a– down. When you are feeling strange about yourself, sit your a– down. Now, I want you to know, that’s the first time in the history of ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ I’ve done it sitting down. That’s a bad sign,” he joked to the crowd.

Later on, his saxophonist Dino Soldo appeared onstage to announce that Lionel was not feeling well and couldn’t continue on with the show.

He was reportedly met with paramedics backstage and taken by ambulance to a hospital as a precautionary measure, per TMZ, and the report says they’re not aware of his current condition.

Lionel had just launched a tour with Earth, Wind & Fire and is expected to perform in Chicago on Friday (June 26). Stay tuned as we wait to hear more.
