Keke Wyatt Disputes Charges Following Georgia Arrest

Keke Wyatt was arrested in Georgia earlier this week on three charges, including cruelty to children and terroristic threats.

Authorities have not yet disclosed what allegedly led to the arrest, but a spokesperson for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to TMZ that the R&B singer was arrested Sept. 20 and booked into the Henry County Jail.
Following her arrest, Wyatt remained in custody until Sept. 22, when she was released after posting a $1,050 bond, per the sheriff’s office. Beyond those basic details of her arrest, most of the circumstances surrounding the situation are a mystery.
Authorities have yet to publicly disclose any more details surrounding the case, including who was involved, what prompted the charges, or the specific allegations that led to the cruelty-to-children count. The available reporting does not identify the child or explain the allegations underlying that charge.
Wyatt took to Instagram to issue a statement on the situation on Friday, September 21. The flyer posted, which was labeled “AI content” by Instagram, insists that “it is important that the public record be reported accurately” before disputing much of what’s being reported.
“Keke Wyatt WAS NOT charged with Cruelty to Children, Terroristic Threats and Acts, or Aggravated Assault as has been reported by certain media outlets,” her statement begins.
The text continues: “We are not offering excuses or asking anyone to prejudge the circumstances surrounding the case. We are simply asking that facts be reported responsibly and that inaccurate information–particularly information involving children–not continue to be repeated as fact.”
According to reports from Complex, booking record lists Wyatt under her legal name, Ketara Wyatt Darring, and identifies the child-cruelty allegation as a third-degree “witness” offense.
Her statement ends by clarifying that she will be in attendance for all upcoming performances, as scheduled.
