Jussie Smollett & Jabari Redd Reportedly Split Less Than a Year After Getting Engaged - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Jussie Smollett and Jabari Redd have reportedly split up.

The 43-year-old Empire star and the Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and The Chi actor called off their engagement after less than a year, according to a new report.

Sources told TMZ that Jussie called off the engagement with Jabari “within the last couple of weeks,” and that Jussie is moving on with his music career.

Jussie announced the engagement back in June of last year, writing: “I’ll be spending my birthday with my Fiancé… He said YES.”

The post, which has since been removed, included a frame-by-frame timeline of Jussie‘s proposal. While on a street in front of a restaurant, Jabari had a big smile on his face as he saw Jussie down on one knee. The second slide showed more of Jabari‘s reaction as he seemed to be yelling with happiness and lifting his hands toward his face.

The third pic showed Jussie placing a ring on his new fiancé’s finger, and the fourth photo showed the newly-engaged couple hugging. The two final photos were filled with laughter and smiling and Jussie holding a glass of champagne. The last photo was a close-up of the ring on Jabari‘s finger.

They starred together in the 2024 movie The Lost Holliday, which Jussie also directed.
