Jean Smart & Hannah Einbinder to Reprise ‘Hacks’ Roles for One-Night-Only Live Event

On Tuesday (August 11), HBO Max announced that Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder will be reprising their Hacks roles for a special one-night-only live event in Los Angeles!

Deborah Vance & Friends & Enemies LIVE! will take place in front of a live audience at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday, August 14. Jean and Hannah have “never appeared in-character outside the show,” HBO Max shared in a press release, adding, “to our knowledge, this is the first Phase II event of its kind.”

“Phase II” refers to the second push of Emmy votes when the campaigning heats up ahead of the final balloting. Voting for the 2026 Emmy Awards concludes on August 26. The final season of Hacks, which concluded in May, was nominated for a record-breaking 24 awards.

Other Hacks characters will be “making surprise appearances” during the live show.

Hosted by Mariska Hargitay, the 2026 Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock on September 14 starting at 8pm ET. Check out the full list of nominations here!
