Is ‘War’ Renewed for Season 2? Here’s What We Know About HBO Show’s Future

War just premiered on HBO, and viewers won’t have to wait for ratings or a renewal announcement to find out if the show will return for Season 2!

The new legal drama, starring Sienna Miller and Dominic West, premiered Thursday night (October 1) on HBO and HBO Max in the United States.

Season 1 centers on a high-profile divorce between international movie star Carla Duval (Miller) and tech billionaire Morgan Henderson (West), with two rival London law firms representing the former couple.

So, will there be another season?

Is War Renewed for Season 2?

Yes! War is officially returning for Season 2.

In fact, HBO and Sky gave the series a two-season order before Season 1 even premiered.

The show was designed as an anthology of major legal battles, with the first season’s divorce case serving as the first story. While each season centers on a new headline-making case, the series remains set around the same rival London law firms.

And Season 2 is already well underway.

Sky’s official website says that production on the second season has already wrapped.

Who Will Star in War Season 2?

Season 2 will feature some major new stars!

Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood have all been confirmed for the second season.

The new season will center on an explosive defamation case, replacing the celebrity divorce at the center of Season 1.

Because War follows different major legal cases each season, Sienna Miller and Dominic West have not been announced as the central clients for Season 2.

However, the show’s larger world revolves around the competing law firms Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, allowing characters from the legal teams to continue across different cases.

What Is War Season 1 About?

Season 1 follows two of London’s most powerful law firms as they go head-to-head over the divorce of tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson and international movie star Carla Duval.

The eight-episode first season also stars Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya, Pip Torrens, Archie Renaux, Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed, Emma Laird, Archie Panjabi and more.

War was created by George Kay, whose previous credits include Lupin and Hijack.

New episodes of Season 1 debut weekly on Thursdays on HBO and HBO Max in the United States.
