Good American Family is back, and the real-life subject for the upcoming season has been revealed.

What Will Good American Family Season 2 Be About?

The anthology series has been renewed for Season 2 at Hulu, and will be inspired by the 1993 Lorena and John Bobbitt case, in which she infamously severed her husband’s penis with a kitchen knife while he slept in bed.

She fled the scene and threw the organ into a field, where police later recovered it for a successful reattachment surgery.

What Happened During Lorena Bobbitt’s Trial?

Lorena accused her husband of rape and emotional abuse in the marriage. She was found not guilty due to temporary insanity, and was ordered to spend time at a mental hospital. John was charged with marial sexual assault, but was ultimately found not guilty in November of 1993.

The logline, per TheWrap, says the season will focus on the “Virginia couple who incited a media circus that treated trauma as entertainment, launched a thousand dirty jokes, and ignited a gender war.”

Natalia Grace previously filed a lawsuit against Hulu and Disney over Season 1 of the series Good American Family starring Ellen Pompeo.

She filed a defamation lawsuit in March without a lawyer over the show, which she is alleging makes her appear “deceptive” and “dangerous.”

What Was Good American Family Season 1 About?

Good American Family is a limited series that debuted on Hulu in March 2025 and starred Ellen as Kristine and Mark Duplass as Michael Barnett, based on Natalia’s real-life foster parents. Ellen also executive produced the show.
