A rumor has been spreading on social media this week about a new Teen Beach Movie installment being in the works at Disney Channel. If it’s true, it doesn’t sound like the original cast is involved.
Garrett Clayton is responding to questions he has received about the possible new movie.
The rumor spread because of a tweet from the @DisneyToonz account, a page that posts Disney news and reports.
What has been said about the Teen Beach Movie reboot…
The page tweeted, “A brand new installment of the ‘TEEN BEACH’ movies is now officially in early development at Disney Channel. Rumors have circulated over the past year. It’s currently unknown if the original cast will reprise their roles.”
The first Teen Beach Movie film was released on Disney Channel in July 2013 and was a huge hit with 8.4 million viewers during its first U.S. airing. Teen Beach 2 followed two years later with the original stars all returning.
A third movie never happened and fans have wished for another installment for years.
Garrett Clayton responds to the rumors
Garrett posted a screencap of the tweet on his Instagram Stories along with his response.
“To the million people messaging and texting me. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS. Lol. Love you byeee,” Garrett said.
Well, if the movie is actually happening, it doesn’t sound like the original cast has been brought on at this point!
Garrett is currently working with the Rockwell Table & Stage theatre in Los Angeles to promote the Kickstarter campaign to help fund a cast album for IT: A Musical Parody. He won an L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Award for his performance as Pennywise the Clown in the musical!
