Drake ‘Quebec’ Lyrics & Meaning Explained

Drake has officially brought “Quebec” to streaming, and the atmospheric track comes with plenty of lyrics to unpack.
The song originally debuted in Drake‘s Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) film in September before receiving its own standalone music video later that month.
It has now arrived on streaming as part of HABIBTI (FOMO), alongside newly released tracks “Solar Eclipse,” “Classic PT2” and “Cold Shoulder.”
While Drake hasn’t publicly explained exactly what “Quebec” means, the lyrics touch on fame, paranoia, loss, luxury and the possibility of getting away from it all.
What Is Drake’s “Quebec” About?
“Quebec” finds Drake in a reflective and uneasy headspace.
Throughout the song, he moves between references to money and luxury and much darker thoughts about people who have it out for him, friends he has lost and problems he still hasn’t been able to move past.
At one point, he suggests making a move and heading to Quebec, giving the title its clearest connection to the lyrics: “If this move get made, we should push out to Quebec.”
That line arrives amid lyrics about stress, loss and feeling surrounded by problems, making Quebec sound like a possible escape from the pressure around him.
That interpretation also fits the larger contrast running through the track. Drake references expensive jewelry, cars and his sprawling lifestyle while simultaneously admitting that he still doesn’t feel healed or at peace.
Why Is Drake’s Song Called “Quebec”?
Drake has not publicly explained why he chose “Quebec” as the song’s title.
However, the province is directly referenced in the lyrics when he talks about potentially heading there.
The official music video makes that connection even more explicit.
In the visual, Drake performs in front of projections of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and Montreal skyline, placing Quebec imagery directly into the song’s visual world.
Montreal also has history in Drake‘s career. As Billboard Canada noted, he played his first-ever headline show at the city’s Time Supper Club in 2008.
The title is also not his first lyrical nod to the province. Drake previously referenced Quebec on his 2022 song “Sticky.”
What Are Some of the References in “Quebec”?
The lyrics are packed with references to Drake‘s life, wealth and familiar imagery.
At one point, Drake says, “two-one-three, add that up and tell me what you get.” While 213 is a Los Angeles area code, 2+1+3 equals six, setting up his next reference to “the 6ix,” his longtime nickname for Toronto.
He also name-checks John Cena, comparing his Chrome Hearts belt to the WWE star’s famous spinner championship belts. In the music video, Drake shows off the belt as he delivers the line.
He also references his Iceman persona.
Elsewhere, the song becomes more personal, with Drake reflecting on his mother, people he has lost, feeling watched and dealing with pressure he says he cannot forget.
“Lost so many angels, only Heaven knows what’s next,” he reflects.
The music video leans into that contrast as well, showing Drake surrounded by luxury items, including watches, jewelry and cars, while the song itself remains notably introspective.

According to the song’s credits, “Quebec” was written by Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Smash David, BEAM, FASHXN, b4u, Sean Turk and Mike Wavvs.
