Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is one step closer to legally removing her dad’s last name.

Days after turning 18 last month, Vivienne filed a legal petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court, requesting a name change from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

Now a month later, Page Six confirmed on August 21 that Vivienne completed a major legal requirement to drop her dad’s last name.

Vivienne took out newspaper ad announce name change

Vivienne has published notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks, according to court documents. She ran the notice from July 24 to August 14. The ad also calls for any opposing her name change to submit a written opposition before the final hearing, which is scheduled for November 2

Under California law, people requesting a legal name change are generally required to publish a notice of their petition in an approved newspaper before a court hearing. The notice must typically run once a week for four consecutive weeks, allowing anyone who may object to the change an opportunity to submit a written opposition. After the publication requirement is completed, a judge reviews the request and makes the final decision on whether to approve the name change.

During the November 2 hearing, a judge will officially approve Vivienne‘s name change request if no one objects.

Four of Angelina & Brad’s six children have also dropped his last name

If you recall, Vivienne previously dropped Pitt from her name when she served as a producer on the Tony-winning Broadway musical The Outsiders. In the Playbill for the show, she is just credited as Vivienne Jolie.

Vivienne is the latest of Angelina and Brad‘s six children to remove his last name legally. A week before Vivienne legally filed her name change request, older sister Zahara, 21, completed a required step in the legal process to remove Pitt from her name. Her hearing is scheduled for September.

Earlier this year, Maddox, 24, also filed for a legal name change, after dropping Pitt in the credits for Angelina‘s movie Couture, where he served as assistant director.

Angelina and Brad‘s 19-year-old daughter Shiloh, who is a dancer, has been going by just “Shi” in the dance world. Her legal name change, dropping Pitt, was granted in 2024.

At the time of the post, only Pax, 23, and Vivienne‘s twin brother, Knox, have kept Brad‘s last name, though Pax is the only one who still maintains a relationship with the actor.

In a recent interview, Brad shared some very rare comments about his “family stuff.”
