Andrew Garfield Makes Rare Comments About Girlfriend Monica Barbaro Ahead of Their New Movie Getting Released

Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro have been dating since early 2025 and now they’re getting ready for the release of their new movie together!

The actors and real-life couple are starring in the new film Artificial, which will be hitting theaters on Christmas Day. The movie is having its world premiere at the New York Film Festival in October.

Artificial dramatizes the upheaval at OpenAI in November 2023, when CEO Sam Altman was removed as CEO before returning to the company days later.

While promoting his new movie The Uprising, Andrew was asked about Monica.

“I think Monica is a supremely talented actor,” he told WhoWhatWear. “I think what she did as Joan Baez [in A Complete Unknown]—what she accessed in that project—is nothing short of transformational, extraordinary, and deeply mysterious. I think she is truly incredible. I could wax lyrical more, but I’ll leave it there.”

Monica also recently talked about Andrew!

She told InStyle, “I mean, he’s one of the best actors of his generation, our generation, I just learned a lot from his approach to the material and to developing character, and I felt very fortunate to get to witness that in real time.”

He inspired her work too. She recalled telling herself: “Oh s-t, I really have to step up my game and make sure I’m a proper, legitimate scene partner.”
