The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially the No. 1 movie of 2026 so far!

The animated sequel surged past the $600 million mark at the global box office in just two weekends, making it the highest-grossing film of 2026 to date.

The film brought in an additional $69 million domestically over the weekend, bringing its North American haul to $308.1 million, per THR.

Overseas, it brought in over $83.5 million, pushing the international haul to about $320 million, and the global total to around $629 million.

The film is now expected to keep climbing towards the billion dollar mark in the next few weeks. 2023′s The Super Mario Bros. Movie brought in $1.3 billion globally, by comparison.

The record-breaking film is based on the Super Mario Bros., and follows iconic characters Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad as they travel to outer space to combat Bowser Jr.

“I’m always down to party with Bowser in this universe. Hopefully we’ll be making several more,” voice actor Jack Black recently teased in an interview.
