Janai Norman‘s time at Good Morning America has come to an end.
On Saturday (April 4), the 46-year-old weekend anchor took to her Instagram to share a video confirming that she has exited the ABC daytime show where she has served as a co-anchor since 2022.
Keep reading to find out more…“I’d hoped that we’d have more time, and it’s been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job,” Janai began. It has been a joy to connect with my co-workers and with viewers to help keep you informed and entertained and to create this community.”
“So it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye,” she continued. “I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye. It would have been fun.”
Janai went on to say that she’s looking at the silver lining of the situation.
“I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives, and so now they get more of me, and that is worth everything,” she explained. “So stay tuned. I’m sorry. I feel you and thank you to every single one of you who has reached out with such kind and validating words, I have needed it, and I appreciate it.”
In the caption of the video, Janai wrote, “I’ve read every message. And am deeply grateful for the love. More to come when the time is right.”
The confirmation from Janai comes after Status shared in a newsletter on Thursday (April 2) that the news reporter’s contract had expired and would not be renewed.
Janai first joined ABC News as an intern in 2011 and helped launch the second hour of Saturday’s GMA in 2019.
