Ryan said that over 10 million votes had been placed on Monday night (March 30) during the “Songs of Faith” episode, with ABC adding social media voting to the mix for the first time.
Due to issues with tallying all the votes, the producers decided to cancel the elimination at the end of the episode, which Ryan said was a “first” for the show. The results will be announced at the top of next week’s episode and then the Top 12 singers will perform. Unfortunately for the two people who will be eliminated, they’re going to be rehearsing all week for nothing.
Tonight’s episode of Idol started with the elimination of six contestants who also had to rehearse their songs without getting the chance to perform them. Meet the Top 14 now!
You can catch new episodes of American Idol every Monday night at 8/7c on ABC.
