Russell Brand Trial Delayed to October Amid Rape & Assault Charges | Russell Brand | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos
Russell Brand‘s trial has been delayed.
The 50-year-old comedian, podcaster and Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor, who was supposed to head to court on June 16 on accusations of rape and sexual assault, will now wait until October for his trial.
He currently faces accusations made by six women between 1999 and 2009, including seven charges: three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault, and one allegation of indecent assault.
He denies all of the claims.
The trial was supposed to start on June 16, originally based on allegations brought forward by four women, until two more women came forward with even more allegations in January.
The new trial date is set of October 12, and is expected to run for about two months, according to Sky News.
According to the Sky News report, Justice Bennathan said that if Russell‘s trial began in mid-June, they could run out of time to hear it, and it would be difficult to find jurors to sit through the summer.
Russell last appeared in court in February carrying a bible, and told the news outlet he was feeling “blessed.”
He recently shared his opinion on his ex-wife Katy Perry‘s relationship with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
