East of Eden is almost here!
The highly anticipated new Netflix limited series, starring Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist, will premiere on Thursday (October 1).
The seven-episode series is a new adaptation of John Steinbeck‘s classic 1952 novel of the same name, with Zoe Kazan serving as co-showrunner, writer and executive producer.

When Does East of Eden Premiere on Netflix?
All seven episodes of East of Eden will be available to stream globally on Netflix beginning Thursday (October 1).
Netflix originals typically become available at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET on their release date.
Unlike shows that follow a weekly release schedule, viewers will be able to watch the entire East of Eden limited series at once.
How Many Episodes of East of Eden Are There?
East of Eden consists of seven episodes in total.
Garth Davis, whose previous credits include Lion and Mary Magdalene, directed Episodes 1 through 4.
Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, known for The Mustang and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, directed Episodes 5 through 7.
Will There Be a Season 2 of East of Eden?
The show is officially being billed by Netflix as a limited series, so a second season is not currently expected.
What Is East of Eden About?
The series is a new adaptation of John Steinbeck‘s East of Eden and spans multiple generations of the Trask family.
The story places particular focus on Cathy Ames, played by Florence, whose life becomes intertwined with brothers Adam Trask and Charles Trask, played by Christopher and Mike, respectively.
Netflix describes the series as a modern interpretation of the novel that explores the multigenerational Trask family saga while bringing new attention to Cathy, one of the story’s most memorable characters.
The series takes place across decades, from the American Civil War through World War I, and explores themes of family, good and evil, and the choices passed from one generation to the next.
Zoe also has a notable personal connection to the material: her grandfather, filmmaker Elia Kazan, directed the acclaimed 1955 movie adaptation of East of Eden, which starred James Dean.
