Ubiquitous baby daddy Nick Cannon is bringing his unconventional family to streaming services this winter in a “raw” and “real” reality show.
The actor is preparing to give fans full access to his massive, unconventional family in a new Netflix docuseries, and he says he’s not holding anything back.
“People have been fascinated with my lifestyle for quite some time, so instead of letting them make up stuff, I’m gonna give you everything,” Cannon, 45, told Us Weekly in an interview.
The Masked Singer host has spent years as a subject of public curiosity over how he manages fatherhood across multiple households, and he feels it’s finally time to set the record straight himself instead of letting outsiders speculate.
Premiering this winter, Us Weekly reports that the docuseries promises to show the “raw” and “real” side of Cannon’s life as a father of 12.
“I think we’re being more open and more vulnerable, and coming from you know a very unorthodox setting,” he said.
That “unorthodox setting” includes Nick Cannon’s kids spread across five households: twins Moroccan and Monroe, 15, with ex-wife Mariah Carey; sons Golden, 9, and Rise, 4, and daughter Powerful, 5, with Brittany Bell; twins Zion and Zillion, 5, and daughter Beautiful, 3, with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary, 4, with Selling Sunset’s Bre Tiesi; and daughter Onyx, 4, with LaNisha Cole.
Cannon also shares daughter Halo, 3, with Alyssa Scott. The pair welcomed son Zen in 2021, who tragically died at just five months old from a rare form of brain cancer. Cannon feels the docuseries will show a side of his family life that people don’t expect.
“I think people will be really surprised how there’s so much love there,” he said, describing the emotional depth behind the headlines about his ever-growing family.
Nick Cannon’s Kids’ Mothers Were Hesitant To Let Cameras Into Their Homes
Not everyone was immediately eager to let cameras into their lives.
Us Weekly reports that Cannon admitted that some of the mothers of his children had reservations about exposing themselves and their kids to more public scrutiny.
“They were like, ‘Why are we letting cameras into our homes?'” he recalled. “I think that everybody’s very comfortable with just keeping their peace. But everybody said that they would do it for me, so I’m appreciative of that.”
Cannon also opened up about how filming changes the way his family communicates. He said documenting his life “makes you have a lot of those challenging and uncomfortable conversations that you might not have had if you didn’t [have cameras rolling] because the world is watching.” That kind of built-in accountability, he suggested, has already reshaped conversations at home before the series even premieres.
As for his own nerves, Cannon insists he doesn’t have any heading into the release.
“I’m built for this,” he said confidently. His bigger concern is for the people around him, since raising Nick Cannon’s kids in the public eye wasn’t something they necessarily chose for themselves.
“They didn’t really sign up or ask for this,” he admitted. “So I’m just praying that they all handle it very well because, or to the best of their ability, because it’s going to be a lot.”
Still, Cannon says he’s genuinely curious how audiences will react once they see the full picture. “I want to know what they have to say because there are no secrets and nothing to hide,” he said.
The docuseries is expected to hit Netflix this winter.
