Joe Jonas Reveals Scary Boat Accident During Italy Vacation

Joe Jonas is opening up about a scary accident that happened during a recent vacation.

The 37-year-old Jonas Brothers singer revealed that he fell into the water between two boats during a trip to Italy last month, and the frightening incident immediately made him think about his children.

Joe recounted what happened while appearing on SiriusXM’s The Morgan Stewart Show with Morgan Stewart, who was there when the accident occurred. The episode was released on Wednesday (September 23).

Joe Jonas Reveals What Happened During Scary Boat Accident

Joe explained that the group was trying to board a smaller tender from their yacht while the water was rocky. As he stepped toward the boat, a wave pushed it farther away and he slipped into the water.

“It was terrifying because I slipped and fell between these two boats,” he recalled, adding that the first mate who tried to grab him also fell into the water.

Joe said his immediate instinct was to get away from the two boats, particularly because he knew the engines were behind him.

He attempted to climb onto the tender, but fell back into the water before eventually managing to get aboard.

It wasn’t until later that the reality of what happened fully hit him.

“That really spooked me for a while. It was really intense,” Joe recalled.

Morgan, who witnessed the incident, recalled fearing that one of the boats could hit Joe in the head as it moved around in the water.

“I was like, “Vacation’s over. Vacation’s over. It’s going to hit him in the head, and we’re going to lose a Jonas Brother,” she said.

“It was so terrifying,” she added, explaining that the boat ultimately moved away and Joe had to swim before pulling himself to safety.

Joe Jonas Says He Immediately Wanted to Call His Kids

Joe said the accident gave him a new perspective on how quickly something can go wrong.

His first thought afterward was to call his daughters, Willa and Delphine, whom he shares with ex-wife Sophie Turner.

“I just need to call them. I need to see them. I need to see their faces,” he recalled thinking once he reached the restaurant after the accident.

“You realize it could have been any of us. It could have been really bad,” Joe added. “It was the best outcome of a bad situation.”

Interestingly, Joe spoke earlier this year about wanting to spend part of his summer vacationing in Europe and getting out on the water.

“I’m trying to get my a– on a boat,” he joked at the time, adding that he wanted to travel through Europe and “get in the water as much as I can.”

Thankfully, Joe walked away from the scary incident okay.
