14 People Hospitalized at The Chainsmokers’ Concert, Police Suspect Alcohol & Drug-Related Issues

Fourteen people were transported to local hospitals during and after a recent concert by The Chainsmokers.

The “Closer” electronic duo, consisting of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, performed at Discovery Meadow in San Jose, Calif., on Friday (September 4).

Fourteen People Were Transported to Hospitals

Fire officials responded to “reports of multiple patients requiring medical attention” and quickly called for additional support, according to the San José Fire Department on X.

They requested an ambulance task force, advanced life support fire units, and a battalion chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources. Fourteen ambulances responded, and 14 patients were transported to local hospitals.

At least 10 people were transported to the hospital during the last 30 minutes of the concert, according to police sources who spoke to ABC 7.

What Caused the Medical Emergencies?

Police said the medical concerns included “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues,” according to NBC Bay Area.

“Authorities said several people are recovering from alcohol or drug problems that took place at Discovery Meadow,” added ABC 7 Eyewitness News. Paramedics were seen treating people on the scene as the concert let out.

The current conditions of those hospitalized have not been disclosed.

Have The Chainsmokers Addressed the Incident?

The Chainsmokers have not said anything about the incident on social media yet.

The duo performed a day later on Saturday (September 5) at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas. They’re scheduled to return to the same venue on September 12.

A few days ago, another popular act was forced to stop a concert due to a medical emergency.
