Howie Mandel Shares Health Update on Simon Cowell Amid ‘America’s Got Talent’ Absence

Howie Mandel is sharing an update on Simon Cowell.
If you didn’t see the news, it was revealed earlier this week that the 66-year-old TV personality is taking a few weeks off from America’s Got Talent as he recovers from a “routine procedure related to his back.”
During an interview with E! News on Thursday (September 3), Howie, 70, shared a post-op update on Simon.
“As I talk to you, he is just hours out of surgery,” Howie said. “I heard that it was a success, everything’s okay.”
The comedian went on to say that Simon‘s operation went off without any issues.
“I haven’t called him yet,” Howie said, before joking, “I don’t know that, this close to surgery, if this is the first thing you need to see.”

After giving Simon a day or two to recover, Howie said he “can’t wait to see him and visit him and give him my best wishes.”
As we get closer to the America’s Got Talent season 21 finale, Howie said he hopes Simon will be back on the show before the winner is crowned.
“I’m hoping that Simon makes his way back and has a speedy, quick recovery,” he said. “That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Amid Simon‘s absence, Kenan Thompson filled in at the judges’ panel earlier this week, and next up, Heidi Klum will be making her triumphant return to the show.
New episodes of America’s Got Talent air on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 8/7c on NBC and are available for streaming the next day on Peacock.
