Dylan Minnette Sets Acting Return In New Horror Film After Clarifying Comments About Quitting Acting

Dylan Minnette is returning to acting after a four-year hiatus!

The 29-year-old actor and Wallows musician has been cast in the upcoming horror thriller movie 4 X 4: The Event, according to Deadline, his first acting project since The Dropout in 2022.

“I never said I quit !” Dylan shared with the news on Instagram, referring to comments from 2024.

Also making his return to acting with the project is Jaden Smith, who, like Dylan, has been more focused on music, but also fashion.

What is 4 X 4: The Event About?

While character details are being kept under wraps, the movie “follows eight contestants as they enter an illegal sensory-assault livestream where they must kill or be killed using only what they can order online.”

Who else stars in the movie?

Along with Dylan and Jaden, the film will star Sophia Lillis, Marcel Ruiz, Quintessa Swindell, Maddie Phillips, Mitchell Cole, and Jacob Tremblay.

Alex Ullom serves as director, whose debut film, It Ends, debuts this Friday (August 21) and also stars Mitchell Cole.

Did Dylan Minnette really quit acting?

During a 2024 podcast appearance, Dylan said acting “reached a peak” and “started to feel like a bit of a job.”

Since it wasn’t satisfying him in a way like it used to, he decided to put 100% of his focus on his band Wallows.

A year later, Dylan clarified that he wasn’t quitting acting, and he had a desire to do it again, just if the right project came along. Sounds like he found that right project!
