Frank Beard, the longtime drummer for legendary rock band ZZ Top, has sadly died at the age of 77.
According to Texas’ Fort Bend County Medical Examiner, Frank passed away on Monday, August 17, after a stay in hospice after a recent battle with serious health issues, TMZ reports.
As of right now, a cause of death has not been disclosed.
Frank‘s recent health woes forced ZZ Top to cancel its August 5 concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
At the time, the band announced they were canceling the show due to “unforeseen personnel matters.”
When ZZ Top performed it’s most recent concert days later at the at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno, Calif., drummer Michael Monahan filled in for Frank.
Frank‘s death leaves singer-guitarist – and ZZ Top founder – Billy Gibbons as the only remaining member from the band’s most successful decades. Bassist-singer Dusty Hill died in 2021.
