Spider-Man: Brand New Day is soaring to new heights day after day.

The latest Tom Holland and Zendaya-helmed Spider-Man installment collected $144.5 million at the domestic box office in its second weekend.

As Variety points out, only Toy Story 5 brought in that much this year in a single weekend – and that was its opening weekend at $159 million.

As a result, Brand New Day has now climbed to become the third biggest second weekend in domestic box office history, just behind 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149 million) and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame ($147 million).

There are only eight movies that even passed the $100 million mark in its second weekend.

As of right now, the movie has brought in $1.67 billion globally in less than two full weeks at theaters, and may become the first movie ever to get to $3 billion at the global box office.

2009’s Avatar currently holds the worldwide record with $2.9 billion.

What is the new Spider-Man movie about?

Here’s the official synopsis:

It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves – a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.

Find out what critics are saying about the movie, and see what Tom said about a potential fifth Spidey movie.
