Director Gareth Edwards will not return to direct the next Jurassic World movie after taking the lead on the 2025 film Jurassic World Rebirth.

If you don’t know, before Jurassic World Rebirth, Gareth built his reputation with Monsters, Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and The Creator.

Why did Gareth Edwards exit the Jurassic World franchise?

Apparently, Gareth exited the Universal franchise over “creative differences,” THR reports.

The film starred Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey, and made $869 million at the box office. All three stars are expected back for a sequel, though they are apparently still trying to make the schedules work. No plot details have been revealed for the movie at this time.

“We had an incredible experience working with Gareth on Jurassic World Rebirth,” Universal said in a statement.

If you don’t know, the Jurassic film series includes Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Jurassic World Dominion (2022), and Jurassic World Rebirth (2025).

By the way, Scarlett and Jonathan had a viral red carpet moment at the premiere of the movie, if you recall!
