60 Minutes is undergoing more change.
The CBS news program has announced new additions after the firings of correspondents Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega. After they left, only three journalists remained with the series: Bill Whitaker, Lesley Stahl, and Jon Wertheim. Anderson Cooper also left the program, and he released a statement explaining why.
Norah O’Donnell has been announced as a new correspondent.
In addition, Ross Douthat, Sebastian Junger, Gianna Toboni and Trevor Phillips have been added as either correspondents or contributors.
“Norah is a powerhouse. You’ve seen her all over the network. She’s launched a new podcast. And you’ll see much more of her in our halls because Norah will be a correspondent on 60 Minutes,” executive producer Nick Bilton said in a statement.
Amid Scott‘s departure, he accused CBS News president and editor in chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” the show.
There have been some further shakeups at CBS with regard to their lineup of television programs: they canceled 3 TV shows in a series of shocking moves.
