Linda Perhacs Is Missing: Folk Music Legend Was Discharged from Care Facility 8 Months Ago

Folk music legend Linda Perhacs has been reported missing.

The 82-year-old musician released her debut album in 1970, but it didn’t get much exposure and she went back to her normal life. It eventually was re-released years later and earned her significant recognition, leading to her follow-up album in 2014 at the age of 68.

Linda‘s former manager and some of her musician friends have not been able to get in touch with her in months and have declared her missing.

In a social media post, they wrote, “Linda Perhacs is missing. We need your help.”

Linda Perhacs our dear friend and legendary singer-songwriter was discharged from a residential care facility approximately eight months ago under the supervision of her legal guardian. Since then, friends and longtime collaborators have been unable to reach her and repeated attempts to contact her guardian have reportedly gone unanswered. Please help us locate Linda to ensure her wellbeing.

Musician Mark “Frosty” McNeill responded to someone who asked if they’ve tried contacting the guardian.

“At this point the ‘guardian’ has been unresponsive to our many queries but we are hoping for a sign of Linda’s well-being as soon as possible,” he wrote.

An official statement was released to EW, stating, “Concern is growing among friends, collaborators, and members of the music community regarding the well-being and current whereabouts of acclaimed singer-songwriter Linda Perhacs… numerous friends and longtime collaborators report they have been unable to establish direct contact with her. Repeated attempts to communicate with her guardian have also, they say, gone unanswered.”

“Those issuing this statement are not alleging wrongdoing. Rather, they are seeking confirmation that Linda is safe, well, and receiving appropriate care, while expressing concern over the prolonged absence of communication with a beloved public figure,” the statement added.
