Alexander Zverev Wins French Open 2026, Captures Elusive First Grand Slam Title - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Alexander Zverev is finally a Grand Slam champion.
The 29-year-old German tennis star defeated Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in a deciding fifth set – 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 – in the men’s singles final at the 2026 French Open on Sunday (June 7) at Roland Garros in Paris, France.
The victory marks the first Grand Slam title of Alexander’s career after years of coming close on tennis’ biggest stages. He previously finished runner-up at the 2020 U.S. Open, 2024 French Open, and 2025 Australian Open before finally breaking through to capture a major championship.
This year’s tournament also featured a dramatically altered men’s draw.
Two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz withdrew before the tournament due to a wrist injury, while World No. 1 Jannik Sinner suffered a shocking second-round exit after blowing a two-set lead and a 5-1 advantage in the third set against Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerúndolo. The stunning upset opened the door for a new Grand Slam champion to emerge.
Congratulations to Alexander on the milestone victory!
