Carmen Electra Shares the Story Behind Landing Her Iconic 'Scary Movie' Role - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Carmen Electra is looking back on the surprising role that helped reshape her career.

While attending the premiere of Scary Movie 6 on Wednesday (June 3), the actress reflected on her history with the beloved comedy franchise and revealed that director Keenen Ivory Wayans was instrumental in getting her cast in the original 2000 film.

The Baywatch star, who appeared in Scary Movie and later returned for Scary Movie 4 before making a cameo in the new installment, praised the Wayans family’s impact on the franchise.

“I was in the first Scary Movie and [Scary Movie 4], and I think we all could feel the difference without the Wayans not being involved in the fourth one,” Carmen, 54, told People. “So it’s just so cool and it gets no better than working with the Wayans. It’s always fun. It’s a good time.”

The actress said she was determined to land a role in the first film, but not everyone involved was convinced she could pull it off.

“There’s so many movies and so many different genres, and I knew I wanted to be a part of Scary Movie 1. I really wanted it, but I think that back then, they weren’t sure that … I know Keenen really wanted me in the movie, but no one else was sure I could do it. And so they had other people come in and shoot for it,” she recalled.

According to Carmen, Keenen stood firm in his support.

“He goes, ‘No.’ He fought for me. So I love you, Keenen, forever, for pulling for me and changing my career, because being in Scary Movie really did.”
