“I’m not going to stay on tour if I’m losing in the first round, I’d rather just be a great mom and be there for my daughter,” Naomi said, per the Tennis Channel. “I want to win titles and I want to be the best player I can, but if I have to sacrifice having a lot of time with my daughter, I’d rather not do it.”
She was talking about what she might do next, whether she will stay on the WTP tours or drop it to be more present with her daughter, Shai. She shares her daughter with her ex-boyfriend, Cordae.
Naomi‘s loss to Talia came as a significant shock as the Japanese player had a first-round bye and was seeded at No. 16, losing to the No. 68 Australian player.
Back in January, she cut her time in the 2026 Australian Open short after suffering from an undisclosed injury that led her to withdraw. She reportedly sustained the injury during her match against Romanian player Sorana Cîrstea.
