Hours after a previous report of actresses screen testing for the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, there’s a new one with a few different names.

Writer and director James Gunn shot down the earlier report, calling it “shoddy and incorrect,” and said he was “frankly disappointed.”

Now, four actresses (including one from the previous reporting) have reportedly screen tested in Atlanta with James for the role of Maxima, per THR. He shared on Threads that he only has one role left in the movie to cast!

Maxima is a powerful alien queen from DC Comics and a recurring character in the orbit of Superman. She possesses immense strength and telekinetic abilities, often rivaling Superman, and was initially driven by her desire to make him her mate to produce strong offspring. Over time, she evolves from a forceful antagonist into a more complex antihero and occasional ally in the DCU world.
