The Oscar-winning animated movie Happy Feet is being turned into a Broadway musical!
The beloved movie will be adapted for the stage, featuring a book written by Douglas Lyons and a score featuring the hit songs from the motion picture “alongside a lineup of chart-topping favorites audiences know and love.”
The soundtrack, which featured Prince‘s “The Song of the Heart” and Gia Farrell‘s “Hit Me Up,” was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Two-time Tony Award-winning director Michael Arden will direct the musical. The choreography team will include tap dancer and choreographer Ayodele Casel and award-winning choreography duo Lauren Yalango-Grant & Christopher “Cree” Grant.
Here’s the synopsis: “Born into a world that measures worth by song, Mumble’s extraordinary dancing sets him apart—and sends him on a life-changing adventure that challenges tradition, celebrates individuality, and reveals the power of daring to be different.”
Dates for productions of the show, along with additional creative team members and cast members, will be announced in the future.
The first Happy Feet movie was released in theaters in 2006 and grossed $384 million worldwide. The sequel hit theaters in 2011 and earned $159 million worldwide.
