Sony’s TriStar Pictures has the film in development, but plot details are currently being kept under wraps.

Clea DuVall is set to write and direct the project, which reunites her with the studio after previously writing and directing the rom-com Happiest Season, with Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis starring.

In addition to starring, Cameron is also set to produce with her business partner Katherine Power and Laurence Mark.

The original Troop Beverly Hills was based on events of the life of writer and producer Ava Fries, and centered on a Beverly Hills housewife (Shelley Long) who decided to lead a local troop of Wilderness Girls to help maintain a relationship with her daughter while going through a divorce. However, the troop wasn’t taken serious by other troops and after falling into conflict with a rival troop leader, theirs faced the potential of being dissolved unless they can prove their skills at the annual Jamboree.

Just last month, Cameron was seen on set of another upcoming rom-com with Stephen Merchant, and she’s also starring in the movie Outcome with Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill. That film debuts THIS Friday (April 10) on Apple TV – Watch the trailer!
