In theatrical version, there were extended shots of Ray’s (Skarsgard) [prosthetic] manhood, and depictions of sex between the two, but in the at-home version, it was pared down. The MPA, which gives films ratings, reportedly also requested that the fake semen on Harry‘s face receive “de-shining.”

The edited version is currently, now the only version available and gives the movie an R rating, instead of the theatrical rating of “Not Rated.”

According to THR, there are only two main versions of the movie – the non-rated version, which screened at festivals and in theaters, and the R-rated version, that is now out on digital.

In order to obtain the R rating, there were reportedly changes requested, including the the amount of sexual content in the alley oral sex scene, the wrestling scene and the biker picnic scene. These changes are described as “light edits” of the visuals and sounds.

However, HBO Max, which has the first exclusive streaming rights of the movie, has the option to run both versions, while other platforms should be showing the Not Rated version of the film.

Pillion is currently available to rent or buy on Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play and more digital platforms.
