The series was adapted for television by Emmy winner Jack Thorne, who co-created Adolescence. Marc Munden directs the four-part series.
“As a society, we’re having a conversation right now about boys. We’re losing a generation of boys, and we’re losing it because of the hate they are ingesting — because it is an answer to their loneliness and isolation,” the creator said in a statement to Tudum.
Re-reading the book, he was struck by the “tender portrait” of “very complicated boys having a complicated relationship with their status and anger.”
Here is the official logline: “Innocence descends into savagery when a group of English schoolboys becomes desert island castaways in the first television adaptation of William Golding’s landmark dystopian classic.”
The cast includes Winston Sawyers as Ralph, Lox Pratt as Jack, David McKenna as Piggy, and Ike Talbut as Simon. Other cast members include Thomas Connor, Noah, Cassius Flemyng, Cornelius Brandreth, and Tom Page-Turner.
The score features music by Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Cristobal Tapia de Veer. Watch the trailer above, and check out some of the first look photos.
