The New York Ripper was originally introduced in season one, though he was not seen on-screen. Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and then later Det. Claudette Wallace (Kadia Saraf), discovered a file on Dom Framt in the vault of Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) in season one, setting up a major storyline for season two.
Dexter: Resurrection, which premiered on Paramount+ in September 2025, followed the 2021 limited series Dexter: New Blood. Michael confirmed the show had been renewed for a second season in October. The renewal news came after it was revealed that prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which was originally renewed, is now not getting a second season.
