Peter Alexander‘s time at NBC News has come to an end.
During the Saturday (March 28) broadcast of Saturday TODAY, the 49-year-old journalist announced that he is leaving the network after after 22 years.
Peter, who co-hosts Saturday TODAY, said that he wants to spend more time at home with his family and to “challenge himself with something new. Peter, his wife Alison Starling, and their daughters Ava, 12, and Emma, 10, are based in Washington, D.C., while Saturday TODAY broadcasts out of New York City.

More than 200 Friday nights away from my family in the last seven years,” Peter said. “So, in this limited window before my daughters lose interest in hanging out with me…I’m eager to carve out a better balance between my personal and professional lives.”
Peter first joined NBC News in 2004 and went on to report international news. He joined Saturday TODAY in 2018 and in 2021, he was named NBC’s co-chief White House correspondent.
