Ella Langley Breaks Billboard Hot 100 Record for Most Weeks Ever at No. 1, Beats Mariah Carey with 'Choosin' Texas' | Just Jared

Ella Langley has broken one of music’s seemingly unbeatable records.

The 27-year-old country singer just noticed her 23rd week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking the record for the most weeks spent at number one for a single song.

“Choosin’ Texas” defeats Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has spent 22 weeks at number one. That song likely will add some more spots at the top of the chart when the holiday season rolls around at the end of the year, though Ella might still get some more weeks to her tally.

Ella Langley previously earned the top non-holiday song

Shaboozey‘s “A Bar Song (Topsy)” and Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus‘ “Old Town Road” previously held the record for most weeks at number one with 19 weeks each.

When Mariah beat them, they had the record for top non-holiday song.

Ella previously topped them when she notched her 20th week at No. 1, spending more weeks at the top of the chart than any other non-holiday track.

Ella Langley is not sure why her song connected with fans

Ella previously told Billboard, “Those of us that wrote it, we talk about that. We love this song. I don’t know if it’s because it’s an honest point of view … but I hear a lot of honest songs all the time, so I don’t know. I tried to add some groove into this record, big singing choruses and big melodic guitar licks that you can remember. I don’t know if it feels nostalgic or sounds like something they hadn’t heard before.”
